In the seventh Colton Banyon mystery, Banyon starts a new position at a prestigious law firm. The job has been arranged by the President of the United States. He quickly discovers that this is no ordinary law firm. All the workers have special talents and are often called upon by the government to help stop situations that the government can’t solve themselves. Banyon finds that many of the female employees are very different and alluring. He is on the job for only a few hours when a major crisis arises. War between Mexico and the United States is brewing, and he needs to find a way to defuse it. Someone is creating disasters on both sides of the Rio Grande, and they must be stopped. Loni and the Patel sisters are not around to help. They have left the country for an adventure of their own, one in which they have the opportunity to find a valuable treasure. Only Eric Grey and Banyon are left to solve and stop the crisis. They employ several of the law firm’s contract employees and set about finding answers. On top of that, they must deal with murders, kidnappings, bombings, and a Mexican hit squad out to kill them. They soon discover that the Effort, the longtime American Nazi organization, is involved, and Banyon hatches a complicated plan to take down the leaders. He then lures the hit squad to Las Vegas for a final showdown in one of America’s national parks. But things never go as planned.

I almost never write a review that's less than "OK." If a book doesn't please me or entertain me or is in some way less than at least OK, I just keep my mouth shut. But I had to give a poor review for this book.
The first thing that bothered me, no, drove me crazy, was the punctuation. It was as if someone took a bag of loose commas and dumped it over the manuscript. Commas everywhere with no rhyme or reason. Commas weren't the only punctuation issue but they were by far the biggest one.
Then there were homonyms that were misused and never corrected. I know this can be a problem with transferring a manuscript to digital format but I expect a professionally done book to have minimal issues with this.
A good editor and proofreader would make a world of difference.
Dialogue is mostly stiff and sometimes unclear.
Finally, since I didn't finish the book, I probably shouldn't comment further but I also have an opinion on the story itself. As far as I read (Chapter 8), it seems to be written as a high school boy's fantasy of adventure and, especially, sex. The women are two dimensional sex pots, for the most part, and the men are stereotypical "heroes" or nerds and two dimensional as well. I can't remember when I've been disappointed in a book on so many levels.

A Dubious Position A Colton Banyon Mystery Book 7 eBook Gerald J Kubicki Kristopher Kubicki Reviews

A Dubious Position (Colton Banyon Mystery #7) by Gerald J. Kubicki
I received an e-book from the author for an honest review. A Dubious Position is an interesting read due to adventures that Colton and his team complete. It is a fast moving book with lots of adventure and action to keep the reader engrossed and waiting to find out what will happen next...
The book also has a mixture of mystery, unusual characters that support Colton, along with some humorous actions and a bit of romance. We follow Colton through a sequence of intertwining events that compel him to use his resources at a moment’s notice to save the lives of the American people.
Colton Banyon works independently with his private team but this time he must use the resources of the Federal Government as well. Which involves a unique law firm with some interesting employees—contracts which he must use, this was arrange by the President. One of the most interesting parts of the book is the characters that he uses to complete his missions. The female characters in my opinion use their femininity very well in addition to their other skills to aid the men on the team. This combination works well and everyone shares the responsibility to help Banyan complete the missions. Colton also relies on his spirit friend Wolf, who only he can here to help him. While helping the President of the United States with the rescue of his granddaughter and other girls captured for the sex trade. War between Mexico and the United States is brewing, and he needs to find a way to neutralize it. Someone is creating disasters on both sides of the Rio Grande, and they must be stopped. A Mexican hit squad is contracted out to kill them. Colton lets his live in girlfriend, Lani and the three Patel sisters go on a treasure hunt to keep them safe with Wolf watching over them. The team soon discovers that the Effort, the longtime American Nazi organization, is involved, and Banyon hatches a complex plan to take down the leaders. He then lures the hit squad to Las Vegas for a final showdown in one of America's national parks.

I gave this book a five star rating. Looking forward to reading more in this series and what kind of characters Banyon will use to complete his other missions. In addition, the situation with the Patel sisters is intriguing me with their relationship with Eric and Lani, Colton’s girlfriend.
Book 7, in the Colton Banyon Mystery

This is a series easily read in no particular order and after three books I can assure they are an interesting and captivating read from start to finish. On one hand, “A Dubious Position” has kept the series’ mystical tone while on the other hand has distracted us with original ideas and providing a suspenseful and fast moving plot populated with a mix of mysterious and appealing main characters. This latest definitely has a strong blend of old-time male fantasy and a lot of sexual innuendo.

Once more, Colton has to face one crisis after another that needs to be solved and with the help of his usual team and of course Wolf the ever present spirit to guide his every move and make everything go smooth and be successful. The adventure takes place on both sides of the US/Mexican borders.

In this story Colton works for the President as a contractor for a prestigious law firm who employs the strangest of characters nuns, priests, illusionists, porn star, and a young athletic woman. They are there to assist Colton on covert operation sanctioned by the President. Their mission is to prevent Nazi operatives intermingling in the Mexican and the Unites States affairs. These characters spoiled the pot for me. They are a bunch of starved sex individuals acting like idiots, totally unprofessional and very annoying. This aside, I like the steady pacing, the short chapters straight to the point narration, and how the author has weaved into his plot a humorous side with the more serious situations.

Although I found parts unappealing, at the heart, “A Dubious Position” is quite exciting and is one I enjoyed nevertheless.
Action from the start. Could not put the book down. Descriptive content was informative and not boring. I will read the other books in the series.
I must say that in a time when I needed a mind escape from reality this was a fun read
A really delightful and easy read. The storyline is straightforward and filled with enough whimsy to keep you interested in the story even though it is totally outrageous.
